Kentucky 2011Recap

So now that I have been home for almost a week I guess I should get around to blogging about my trip to Kentucky huh?

Thursday:

Jenn & her niece picked me up from the airport then since we were starving we hit Cracker Barrel for lunch, then we went and got our tattoo’s (added a clover & a heart with BFF in it to our Care Bear stars on our feet ) then basically just hung out the rest of the evening meeting Jenn‘s boyfriend Kyle & her brother Raymond for the first time and just watching Netflix. Also, Jenn worked on getting my netbook upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate.

*No we will not discuss the part where I dumped a ton of water into my unzipped netbook case that contained my netbook at the time and I pulled it out & water came pouring out of the bottom of it … just sayin’*

Friday:

We got up early (well not by my internal clock lol) and Jenn, her brother Raymond & I all headed out for the day and we visited Abraham Lincoln’s Birthplace (bought postcards, a shot glass & a keychain) , took a free tour & bourbon tasting at the Maker’s Mark Distillery (I will take the 46 any day! Also, more postcards & a shot glass there too), went to a porn outlet where I critiqued their entire inventory stock lol, hit Zaxby’s for lunch (which was AWESOME), hit Walmart for essentials where not only did I buy munchies but, I bought a cookie monster bag for Kidlet and a pink & black zebra print belt for myself. Then we went back to Jenn‘s house to relax and had some just us time while the guys were out various places. Jenn and I also spent the evening exchanging memory cards from our camera’s so that we would both have all of the pictures that were taken on this trip.

Saturday:

Up early again but, we decided to have some girl time just bumming around so Jenn & I went to go visit her Grandma for a little while, went to a yard sale (2 purses for $1 a piece!), hit the dollar store, bought Nook stuff at Barnes & Noble, did lunch at Applebee’s (the 2 for $20 thing is great!), Walmart again (planner for Jenn and a dress and shirt for me), stopped at a Goodwill store (3 shirts for me, a few shirts & shorts for Jenn) and stop at Sonic for drinks (I love me some Peach Sweet Tea!) on the way back to Jenn‘s house. Then we did a family dinner of taco salads at Jenn‘s Mom’s house. Everyone was exhausted from the days events so we were ready for bed early but, Jenn & I stayed up like school girls in our jammies trading books for our Nooks. I also was trying to figure out how to cram all the shit I bought into my suitcase.

Sunday:

I managed to cram everything in my suitcase and the four of us left the house before noon so that we could have lunch together before starting out the adventure to get back to the Nashville airport. We ended up going to a Chinese buffet place which was pretty good then as we were leaving the weather turned bad with horrid wind & dark skys so we had to stop at Kyle’s sister’s house to trade cars as Jenn‘s windshield didn’t work and then the rain just started pouring down. We managed to make it to Nashville in one piece although Kyle did try to kill us once lol. I was sad the whole way to the airport because I didn’t want to go home. I think I almost smooshed Jenn to death when I hugged her goodbye.

I got to the Nashville airport and ate yet again (Wendy’s this time but, I really just wanted the Mixed Berry Tea) lol. I hit up the gift shop and got a keychain and basically waited around for my flight. The trip to Atlanta was fine (stuck with an older lady seatmate) and I was relieved to be able to finally have a cigarette when we hit the Atlanta airport. Again there was time to kill so I browsed the giftshops, got snacks and dinner before my flight boarded at 8:30pm ish. The flight from Atlanta was not quite 2 hours (again with an older lady seatmate) and was bearable since I had TV shows to watch on my netbook. Although I wanted to punch the lady in the seat in front of me as she couldn’t decide what position she wanted her seat in so she kept almost knocking everything off my tray table (I really didn’t want my netbook to take another dunking either lol). I landed in my hometown around 10:30pm and SBD picked me up at the airport and brought me home where we hung out for a little while, I did laundry then I went to bed since I had work in the morning.

After this trip I have realized how much harder it gets to come home each time. This time it actually made me want to cry. I just feel like I am being ripped away from my other family. I feel free to be me and be accepted for who and what I am there.

I’ve wanted to go back since I was dropped off at the Nashville airport that Sunday morning.

To Kentucky 2011

So today was the big day! I got up at 2am so that I could catch a 6:30am flight to visit with Jenn. This time around I did the online check in with Delta1 and also printed out my boarding passes for both flights at home.

I got to my airport right around 5am and since I already had my boarding passes, checked in and didn’t have any luggage to check2 I went right to the security checkpoint. The security agent was extremely friendly3 and I got sent to a regular screening line. Thank god I didn’t get sent through the back scatter machine because I have some interesting piercings lol.

Then I was starving to I hit McDonalds for my first breakfast, filled up my water bottle4 and just chilled at my gate. I got seated next to this douchebag who kept trying to put the seat armrest down between the seats which would’ve been fine except he kept slamming it down on my hipbone until I told him that my hipbone just won’t go away.

Then when we deplaned at Atlanta I was starving again which was surprising so I went in search of lunch which is impossible at 9am so I found a Chic-fil-a which is enough like lunch food so I tried it for the first time. I had a meal that had 4 mini filets5 and hashbrowns and a Coke .. trying to figure out the crazy ass computerized Coe machine almost did me in lol.

Right now I am writing this on my way from Atlanta to Nashville and I should be landing in about 20 minues or so. I just wish that I could actually blog & post it live while on the plane but, I’ll be damned if I am paying for internet.

(I just back dated this to the time that it was really written)

  1. before I went to bed since you can check in up to 72 hours before your flight []
  2. going carry on all the way []
  3. I think because my boobs were on display in all of thier bounty []
  4. fuck paying $2 – $3 for a bottle of water at the airport []
  5. real popcorn chicken style piece on a yummy roll []

Finally my trip to Kentucky!

This is my account of my trip to Kentucky … if you actually read this massive entry I will be freaking amazed!

Thursday:

My flight landed in TN at about 10 where I met Jenn & her Dad at the baggage claim then we made the long drive to Jenn’s town in KY while it started raining .. mostly sprinkling though. When we got to Jenn’s house we pretty much just dropped off my stuff and headed back out. We stopped by her Mom’s work so I could finally say hi then we hit up Taco Bell because we were ready to chew off our own hands (and they failed epically! A chicken quesadilla is NOT a steak one .. I’m just sayin’). We actually took our lunch to the Taboo Brother’s tattoo shop and munched while our stencils were being made and then I convinced Jenn that she should go first to get her Care Bear heart tattoo on her foot. She made the craziest faces because it hurt then it was my turn .. it hurt but it was over pretty quick.

Afterwards we ran to Wally World to get snacks & munchies because we figured that we were going to be staying in that night to give our poor aching feet a rest. Of course as soon as we got to Wally World the rain started pouring down and Jenn was wearing flip flops. Then we hit the liquor store and Lee’s chicken (the best damn chicken ever!) to get another snack / dinner (2 chicken strips, mashed potatoes, gravy & a biscuit really cheap) and hung out at Jenn’s parents house for awhile before heading to Jenn’s to geek out together on the internet & Jenn put windows 7 on my computer as well because I fail. I actually kind of passed out sitting up in her comfy chair in her office for a little bit but, I actually did pretty good for getting no sleep since I got up Wednesday morning lol.

Friday:

We got up pretty early & headed out to visit Jenn’s grandma for a little bit then we went to Mammoth Cave National Park where we got tons of nature pics and ones of the old Missionary Baptist Church. We also got pics together on one of the pond trails & at the Mammoth Cave sign. Afterwards we hit the visitors center and got tickets to go on the Frozen Niagara cave tour. Since we had some time to kill we ate lunch at the cafe (I had a yummy grilled cheese sandwich with fries and a rootbeer), then I had to blow money in the gift shop. I did get postcards and Jenn happened to actually have postcard stamps so we went to the car while waiting for the tour to start and I filled them out.

When it was time for our tour we met our really goofy park ranger and we loaded up on the bus for the cave tour (All I could think was that it felt like we were going to summer camp because it was really a school bus). The tour was totally completely amazing & we both got some awesome pics. Though I must say when it is completely dark and you take a picture of me with a flash I can guarantee that I WILL blink lol.

That night we just kind of hung out, went out to eat (no I have no idea what the name was lol) but, I had a slamming burger & fries and I also sampled some of Jenn’s yummy potato soup as well. We watched a movie then Jenn went to bed before I did because I was on the phone with the boys back home .. the missed me  .

Saturday:

We got up early again and after having my left over burger for breakfast we headed out to take pics by the Green River so that I could see the difference between now (when a lot of the water receded) and when the big flood happened it was freaking crazy to see. The weather finally cleared up so we were trapsing around in the sun and a little bit of humidity. (We ended up wearing tanktops, skirts & flip flops .. so keep in mind how inappropriately we are dressed for some of our up coming adventures)

Since it was so hot out we hit Sonic (which I don’t have at home either) and I got a HUGE peach sweet tea (to die for!) and went to another park and just kinda walked around some trails. Go figure I got perfect cell reception there yet I had to stand in the middle of Jenn’s driveway to get decent reception while at her house lol.

Then we hit a railroad museum but it really didn’t catch our eyes so we headed to Kentucky Down Under where we got awesome pics of Australian animals, got to pet both Kangaroos & Emus and even fed two kinds of birds.

By this time we were hot, sunburned & starving so we hit Long John Silver’s and A&W for a snack on the way back to Jenn’s parent’s house for a cookout. I must admit that it was the first time that I got rootbeer directly out of the barrel & it was the best rootbeer that I’ve ever had!.

Jenn’s parents had a big cookout that night and it was so nice to eat yummy food & just chill with a bunch of people that already felt like family. Jenn & I started doing shots of Jameson and I did rattlesnake shots with her parents & their friends lol. I was pretty buzzed for it only being 10pm but, we had to get up the next morning to be able to leave by 5:30am to go to the airport. So we went back to Jenn’s house and I drunkenly packed up my bag and just kept saying I don’t wanna go home lol.

Sunday:

Jenn & I got up at the asscrack of dawn & we left her house by 5:30ish so that I could be in TN by 7:30am to check in for my 9:30am flight to Atlanta. The fog in Jenn’s town was insane that morning .. it looked like something out of a horror movie set and it was already starting to get hot out!. We were just two BFF’s rocking out to good music, enjoying the smell of crude oil in the morning & trying not to feel too sad about my leaving.

Jenn dropped me off in the parking garage so I walked over and used the Delta curbside checking (which was awesome compared to the check in at my city!) to get my boarding passes & check my bag. Then there was a HUGE security check point line which to forever to get to the actual scanners but, I go through them pretty quick since I knew what to expect this time.

Since I had enough extra time I decided to get breakfast since I skipped it before we left the house. I was shocked to find Wendy’s open at 8am and serving an actual breakfast menu including biscuits & sausage gravy which was pretty good and I browsed the gift shops & news stands and headed to my gate. I had originally booked the isle seat but, the guy who had the window in my row wanted to trade so I did & I actually enjoyed looking out on the short 30 minute flight.

When I got to Atlanta I headed right to my gate on the furthest concourse just so that I would know where the hell I was going despite my 3 hour layover. I did find a big dining area where I ate at Arbys & made use of the free wifi until I needed to go back to my gate. We flew in an AirFrance plane home so it was super comfy with dvd players in the headrests lol. I mainly read or looked out the window. I ended up in my home airport around 5pm and my cousin picked me up after trying to find my luggage which was cracked open by TSA in Atlanta (how lovely) .. I wanted to find out how they got it closed again because I almost had to have Jenn sit on the damn thing for me to close it lol

Left on a jet plane

So Thursday morning I left my house at 4am to leave on a jet plane. I was so nervous doing the whole flying thing on my own!

My cab picked me up around 4 and dropped me at the airport around 4:15. I walked in and a nice guy at the Delta kiosk helped me to use their automated system to get my boarding pass (which was easy except for some reason it didn’t print the boarding pass for my connecting flight from Atlanta to Tennessee so I had to have the guy at the boarding desk print it for me), then pay for my checked bag via credit card, then I went to the desk to have my baggage weighed then handed it to the lovely baggage men.

Then it was time to move on to the security checkpoint which was fun! I now know that your carry on & liquids go in one bin, your laptop in another by itself, your hoodie in a bin and your shoes on the convayor belt. It really is a pain in the ass to put everything back together when it is done scanning. My home airport actually prints the gate numbers right on the tickets so it was easy to find my gate & just relax until my plane left.

The first plane ride was the longest of like 2 hours and I had the isle seat, then when I got to the Atlanta airport I realized that I had to take the in airport train to reach my concourse which was quite hair raising. Then the connection flight (Comair) was the dumpiest plane ever so thank god it was only about a 40 minute flight!

Jenn & her dad met me at the Nashville airport at 10am after a little problem locating each other lol and we headed off to her house.

The rest of our weekend to come in another post :)

It’s almost time

For me to leave to go see “muh” Jenn. I’m disappointed that I’m not going down there for her wedding now because the groom changed his mind but, in the long run I know that Jenn can get through this. I’m so sick of men who lie, cheat and generally act irresponsible! If you don’t want to be with someone it’s not fair to use them emotionally, physically & materialistically.

Anyway, let me change the subject before I get totally pissed off! I only have 2 more days left to work before getting my 5 days off for vacation. I can’t wait .. I can’t remember the last time I had a vacation from work and this is the first time I am actually going somewhere.

My checked bag is just about packed and I will pack my carry on Wednesday night although I already have most of the stuff set aside to go in it except for all my electronic stuff. I have to go buy some more ziplock bags so that I can get all the cords for my ipod, laptop & cellphone all neat and organized.

I’m hoping that I don’t get too homesick .. I know that I will have an awesome time since I will be with Jenn but, I’ve never been that far away from home or from Kidlet so we shall see what happens.

Anyway, I think I am going to go lay down on the couch & read for a little bit and maybe take a nap. I feel super tired for some reason today *shrugs*
