30 Something

So, I realized the other day that I have been blogging since at least 2001 and that I am now a 30 something blogger so where are my peers on the internet? I see a plethora of 20 something bloggers and there is also a dedicated 20 something blogger group out there so what happened to all the 30 somethings?

When you google 30 something bloggers you come up with a closed group on Ning and a bunch of blogs where someone has just written 30 something blogger. When I do come across bloggers in my age range a majority of them have pre-school aged and under children and are stay at home moms. There is nothing wrong with that1 but, I am way past that stage with a 12 year old 7th grader2 and it feels as though I had those experiences in another life time.

Right now I’m dealing with pre-teen hormones & angst 24/7 so does that mean I have more to relate to with a 40 something? But I also love body mods, going out to clubs, getting drunk with my friends, dying my hair pink and spending hours shopping 3 so does that mean I can relate more to the 20 somethings?

This is part of the reason that I don’t have as much enthusiasim to blog as I used to … I want to know where I belong but, I feel like there isn’t anywhere for me. It’s almost like high school all over again4. It’s like nothing I say is relevant to my readers and who really wants to read the mundane stories from a Mom that sells smut anyway?

  1. because I did that for a year []
  2. yup that totally makes me feel old []
  3. The last few are when Kidlet is not at home obviously! []
  4. which is totally depressing btw []

Oh how the web has changed!

So today I have bascially sat on my but and browsed the internet all day (Well, while I actually had a connection that is!) and found some new sites to comment on but, I noticed that things have really changed from when I first started creating websites, purchasing domains & hosting people.

Now, when I started with my first domain in like 1999 / 2000 I was 19 or 20 .. that was the average age for people who actually owned domains. Because we had jobs & credit cards and could afford to pay for the website hosting so we bought the domains then offered up our free space to others who needed hosting (Via places like pick-me.net where Jenn & I met).

Now, it seems like a lot of the domain owners are in the 13 to 16 year old range. I must admit that scares me slightly since my child is only 1 1/2 years away from being 13 lol.

I also noticed that people are using FanUpdate as a CMS rather than an actual blogging / CMS script like WordPress, Chyrp, Textpattern etc. I wonder why?

Speaking of CMS I feel so old with all of these programs! I started out coding everything by hand then moving to GreyMatter (that tells you how old I am right there huh? lol), B2, WordPress & sometimes Chyrp. (Yes, Jenn I know you think I should do Chyrp but, I kick ass at WordPress & I think I’m just getting old & set in my ways *bounceheart* )

Ok, enough blathering about the internet .. I suppose I should actually go do something around the house today :-P

Frustrated

I am beyond frustrated these days! Some of the contributing factors are that I am no longer taking my antidepressants because I have no health insurance and the generic of my medicine is $150 per month. I am not smoking anymore, and I also have Pneumonia.

So obviously I feel like ass on a hot day lately. But, then throw on the fact that alot of my friends are displaying the potential to be complete fuckheads really doesn’t help either.

BUT, I have been a busy busy bee with Jenn opening new sites and updating old ones. Also, buying a few new domains *cough**cough*. I turned Sinful-Love.Org into my collective so stop on by there to see what I am up to :)

Summer Vacation / Kidlet’s B-day

Monday night we had a brownie cake for Kidlet over at SBH & Kdawg’s house and yesterday I took Kidlet to a local museum for her 11th birthday. We had fun there for hours and also hit up the park next door that even has a mini spray park. She went home with my Mom since I had to work lastnight and today Mom’s boyfriend dropped her off this morning.

We took the bus down to the main public library and got here at oh 10am. It is now after 1:30 and we are still here. Kidlet got some books & surfed the net on her ipod, I’ve been surfing the net and working on getting my collective up & running.

I did pack a lunch of tuna on toast, sweet tea1 and a few pudding cups but, Kidlet wanted to have a hot dog from a street vendor so we did that. Then we went into the reading garden of the library where Kidlet proceded to eat the rest of the lunch that I packed her while I surfed the web some more until it started to rain outside.

Now we are just relaxing and killing some time before we have to catch the bus home at around 230 or so. I think I am going to go grabs some books for me while we are here since they have banned URL’s with certain words I can’t work with the Enthusiast script at all lol

Anyway, I might post some more later from Kdawg’s house if I feel ok .. since I have a cold and it is kicking my ass.

Netrillum #2

I am continually frustrated with the support provided by Netrillium although I canceled my services with them at the end on June.

This is the 3rd time they have tried to bill me and sent me an invoice for services not provided that I had discontinued.

Last month I was told by Jousua B (after many emails and help desk tickets) that the invoice was canceled and I was removed from their system. But, guess what? I was NOT removed from their system as I got yet another invoice.

As usual I sent and email to support, billing and Ermina (one of the co-owners of the company). This time however, I threatened leagal action if I was fraudulently billed. Sure enough within 24 hours the invoice has been canceled per Ermina herself. I am betting that I will be invoiced for October and that my information is still in the system.
