Jury Duty Fun

Yesterday I had to do jury duty for the first time and let me tell you it was an excercise in patience! It was so much hurry up & do this then wait for hours.

I showed up at 7:30 and we were finally brought back to the jury duty room at 8. My group was selected to be screened by a judge in a 9:30 hearing … we weren’t brought to the courtroom until 11:45. The judge talked for about 15 minutes then sent us on an hour lunch. Back in the courtroom at 1 the judge randomly pulled 16 names (I was one) to be brought up and questioned by herself, the district attorney and the two defendants attorneys which lasted two hours. Then it took the attorneys another 30 minutes to decide which 6 people they were taking. I wasn’t one of them thank goodness! So, about 3:30pm the rest of us were dismissed and since it was so late me were just sent home.

So, now since that is out of the way I don’t have to do it for at least another 8 years which I am thankful for.

So have you ever done jury duty? How was your experience?
