5 Best Decisions

So around the internet today I have seen multiple people do posts about the 5 best decisions they have made in their lives and I thought I would do the same.

  • To have my daughter: When I got pregnant so young I could have chosen to take other paths but, I decided that it was my responsibility to take care of the life I created. My daughter made me grow up and realize that there were more important things in life besides myself. My daughter became my world and has brought me so much joy that I don’t know what I would have done without her.
  • To take a chance on unknown people: Many many years ago as I was struggling with my marriage I delved into the online world as a means of escape. I decided that I needed to come out of my shell and start to make friends. The first true friend I met was Jenn and she has changed my life. She has become my best friend who I can turn to and tell anything without judgement. She is the other half of my soul even though that should corny as hell.
  • To go back to school: I dropped out of high school after feeling screwed by the system & districts after moving to a suburb and them not knowing how to transfer my credits from an arts high school to a regular high school making me a 9th grader for something like the 3rd time. I got my GED just after my daughter was born. Then when she was 3 I decided to go back to school and I loved it and did really well. I got sidetracked by the reason below this but, I am now scheduled to start school in January and I am looking forward to getting a degree that will enable me to provide my daughter and I with a better and more secure life.
  • Leaving my husband: My marriage was an abusive one and getting my daughter and I out of that situation was the best thing for us. It has given my daughter the chance to bloom without the fear of him lurking around the corner. It has given me the chance to start a new meaningful life where I am teaching my daughter how relationships are supposed to be.
  • Moving in with my Mother: Despite the issues that I have with my Mom’s boyfriend living at home with my Mom has enabled me to provide a fuller family environment for my daughter where she is thriving and is giving me the chance to get back into school. This has also been a blessing since I was laid off in June and wouldn’t have been able to survive on just my unemployment otherwise.

So what are the 5 best decisions of your life?
