9-11 .. 10 Years Ago Today

The day started out so normally … I was unemployed briefly so I got up early ushered my husband out the door to work, started getting breakfast together for Kidlet (3 years old) & C (Kat’s daughter 2 years old) who had woken up early as usual, sent Kat off for the day (they were living with us at the time) got the girls settled with breakfast & some Blue’s Clues and started doing my daily chores when I got the phone call.

My husband was on the phone yelling for me to turn the news on that a plane had just hit the World Trade Center. I immediately distracted the girls and turned on the news. I just couldn’t believe it .. at first I thought it was a horrible accident. Then I just sat in stunned horror as the second plane hit the second tower. I started to hear reports of the other planes and targets.

I was unbelievably scared … what if they start targeting other places too? My city is home two 3 MAJOR corporations that deal with worldwide technology and I lived just 2 blocks from the biggest and most well-known of them. What would become of my family if it was targeted?

As I watched the chaos, the smoke, the towers collapsing, and saw the horror in all these tragic acts of terrorism I knew that the world as we knew it would no longer be the same.

I sat on the couch holding two little girls as tight as I could with silent tears streaming down my face.
