Back to School – 6th grade edition

So tomorrow Kidlet starts the 6th grade. Where the hell has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday I dropped her off for pre-school with her tiny backpack and a snack for her whole class.

Now, I’m sending here off with a backpack stuffed with binders, spiral notebooks, erasable pens & even a required 2gb flash drive. Not to mention that like last year she will be wearing her uniformk and be switching classes for different subjects like the high schoolers do.

Kidlet will need to be up by 6am so that she can be outside at 7am to catch the bus. This means that until she is used to getting up with her alarm clock I will have to be awake to make sure that she gets up and gets ready to go on time. (Thrills me to no end  lol)

I think depending on how hungry she is1 I will make her either scrambled eggs & hash or pancakes for breakfast since I highly doubt the bus will get to school in time for breakfast.

Anyway, Since I have to work until 9 and I want Kidlet to actually take the bus on her first day of school my Mom & her BF are going to watch Kidlet at our house until I get home. Hopefully, Kidlet will be fed, showered, teeth brushed, have her backpack together, uniform out & be all ready for me to tuck her in when I get there around 9:30pm or so.

Damn, I just remembered that I have to make a copy of her immunization records for her to give to the school nurse first thing in the morning and also copy her bus paper so she can carry it with her until she is used to her new bus route number.

Then tomorrow afternoon I will wait at Kdawg’s house to get Kidlet off the bus. I assume that she will have “homework” (paperwork) for me to fill out that she will have to turn in on Thursday so I will have to get that finished before I head out to work and she gets picked up for karate.

After karate Kidlet will spend the night at my Mom’s because her karate classes end so late and it is just mean to make her get up so early to catch the bus when she can sleep in over there.

It will be interesting to see how Kidlet’s day goes tomorrow .. the only thing she is worried about is finding out what time her lunch is lol.

But, this year is definitely full of big decisions about the rest of her schooling since it is time to pick a high school for 7th grade next year. Private or Public school? What school does she fit best in? What kind of job does she want? Arts or Not? Is there financial aid or scholarships available for the private school?

Ugh! My brain is going to explode with all of these choices and I know I won’t get any help with them.

  1. Its takes quite a while for her to wake up enough to eat []
